Do You Mind?

In a world where the mind is fully understood and can be moved from body to body, people will grow spare bodies, but they need to be inhabited to keep from developing independent personalities. A career path will develop where someone (perhaps terminally ill and unable to afford a spare body) will hire themselves out to be implanted into a "baby" and "be" that person until it's time for the owner to inhabit it, at which time they do it all over again in a new one.

  • typically infant to 25 years old
  • sort of immortality, but always in a kid's body and restricted in activities for the safety of the body
  • how many iterations to afford own body?
  • "runners" who don't want to give up body?
  • mental health
    • after years in baby body?
    • if "resurrected" and find out your previous incarnation died
  • when can "baby" talk, walk?
    • each transfer needs to retrain in new body
  • "transporter" issues, i.e. moving self or cloning and killing?
  • multiple new bodies as spares, some inhabitants get to live out longer lives in them
    • do they actually get to live their lives or are they imprisoned that much longer?
  • contract law, variations in terms
    • very contained
    • live normal life with few restrictions
