Originally conceived as a "gay green acres", I'm moving towards the idea of a comedy-drama rather than the farce that Green Acres was.

The premise is a gay couple from the city decide to move to the country. One is a gardening buff, but a complete city boy, the other a rural, outdoorsy, computer geek. The former wants to start a nursery (changing to a vineyard, due the the availability of location ;-) ). The latter will use a line something like "are you sure? borrowing from miss peach, your idea of "roughing it" is having to call twice for room service..." but goes along with the idea since the outdoors has been a bit of a conflict in their lives and he sees a chance for his partner to take part in something he enjoys. Throughout the problems, show the beauty and advantages of country life as well.

Plot points/episodes:

  1. making the decision and moving, seeing the stars for the first time
  2. finances dictate being fairly far out in the country
  3. initial problems with the house/property
  4. meeting the neighbors and townsfolk (but assuming no homophobia --- show things the way they ought to be)
  5. planting
  6. animals eating new plants and/or invading the house, etc
  7. weather issues
